Shibasaki Kou's beautiful PVs 柴咲コウ
I feel like her PVs (promotion video, we call it that in Japan instead of 'music video') very much capture the same type of feeling that I want to capture in my art. Her face seems a bit wonky sometimes but I've grown to quite like the wonkiness. (Especially when she sings) So beautiful!!! >_<
WHAT! I now see that YouTube is blocking most of the PVs! AHHHHHHHHHH! Here are some screencaps anyway.
Studio Space! H@ll@!
I have the best part-time job in the world. It's actually got nothing to do with art, but every single person who works in my office is unparalleld-ly (is that a word? It is now) kind and jolly and wondrous.
There is a desk by the window that has lain unused for awhile... I asked my boss if I could rent it out as a studio space.
New painting! "Sky -Sora-"
You might have a sneaking suspicion that this looks like another piece called "Winter." Well, it actually IS Winter... but after it was all finished, I thought it looked more like a "Sky" than "Winter." Maybe because I am longing to see the blue sky, since I've forgotten what it looks like due to this dratted WINTER. Maybe because I didn't think her skintone and kanzashi colors turned out pallid enough (nothing ever turns out quite like I expect... watercolor likes to surprise me.)
How to get people to start taking your art seriously
I think all creative people have dealt with questions like "that's a hobby, right?" or "you actually charge money for your drawings?!?" or even worse, "Hey, since you are musical, could you play a concert for our group this Saturday (for free?)"
And your artist soul wants to shout, "I AM AN ARTIST/WRITER/ACTOR/MUSICIAN! IT'S NOT A HOBBY, IT'S MY LIFE!"
